Job Description
  • Use your knowledge and experience to assist with the management of the growing lending book assisting with the unique needs of Owner Managed Independent Businesses and Private Clients.
  • Actively contribute within the Portfolio Control Team, providing support to the first line and second line Teams.
  • Review Procedure documents, making updates and improvements when efficiencies and best practices or regulation changes are identified. 
  • Assist managing and monitoring a well-balanced lending book for the Bank.
  • Work closely with Commercial and Private Bankers and their assistants to ensure the growing lending book is well controlled and monitored
  • Help administer syndicated/club deal transactions with other Financial Institutions
  • Assist with the set-up of systems and procedures to assist the team and the wider Bank
Key Responsibilities

Risk Management

  • Assist bankers and their assistants in monitoring risk issues across the lending book
  • Help ensure that risk appetite policy is adhered to
  • Monitor covenants across the Commercial and Private Banking Teams
  • Act as FLOD control checker for covenants recording testing and reporting.
  • Develop and ensure that good MI is available for exposure levels and metrics for various lending sectors, to analyse, monitor and report on to Senior Management and Credit Risk
  • Liaise with Credit Department/Credit Operations to ensure controls are effective
  •  Compile a list of outstanding Conditions subsequent and maintain a log, advising bankers when the Condition is due to be completed by, to monitor timely completion.
  • Assist Bankers with LMA Documentation negotiations and provide oversight to ensure documentation is correctly structured to protect the Bank’s interests.
  • Assist Bankers and Credit Operations to accurately document bespoke covenants and key terms of approval within documentation.
  • Identify and discuss training requirements for Bankers that have been identified through the interactions with Bankers, when documenting LMA and non-standard / bespoke covenants and conditions

  • Developing relationships with key stakeholders across the business
  • Take responsibility for your risk and regulatory performance when assisting with client acquisition 


  • Responsible for managing risks inherent to the role by diligently observing internal policies and procedures

Person Specification

Knowledge / Experience

  • You will have a background in Commercial Banking or Commercial Credit Risk, with experience across the financial services industry and knowledge of the commercial business market
  • Commercial or Private Banking experience dealing with Owner Managed Independent Businesses would be considered helpful
  • Real Estate lending experience would also assist
  • Track record of helping to deliver a well controlled credit risk environment 

  • Good Interpersonal skills and collaboration
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks often within a tight timescale to an accurate level.
  • Credit Risk knowledge
  •  Demonstrable high competency levels with Microsoft Office Excel and PowerPoint
