Job Description

As part of the Client and Marketing Systems team of 7, as the Senior Application Specialist you will provide Subject Matter Expertise on the design, development and enhancement of our Client & Marketing Systems and assist the business in increasing operational efficiency and reducing operational risks. You will also be an escalation point for the Application Specialists and to fix application and system problems, or any incident that is disrupting the application service that business users depend on.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with the business to gather requirements and take ownership for the delivery of development work within the agreed timelines.
  • Provide Technical advice to the Client & Marketing Systems Senior Platform Lead, ensuring exacting standards of quality, security (incl IT Security and Data Privacy), continuity of service, are delivered to meet AL and client needs
  • Produce documentation to support and embed processes for Client & Marketing systems.
  • Monitor Platform performance in accordance with agreed SLAs and help deliver resolution of platform defects, outages and incidents.
  • Support engagement with key suppliers.
  • Ensure maintenance of the development infrastructure required by the above tools. In particular, maintenance the source code repository, continuous build and deployment facilities
  • Seek opportunities to deliver business value via innovation and technology.
  • Ensure quality and consistency throughout the architecture and implementation of the code base.
  • Estimate team level timelines and technical efforts for planning purposes.
  • Provide troubleshooting, coaching and training for team members to enhance ability to handle similar situations in the future.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and after hours work as required
  • Responsible for managing risks inherent to the role by diligently observing internal policies and procedures

Person Specification

Knowledge /Experience

  • Experience in an ITIL environment and knowledge of Salesforce
  • Relevant Application support experience to include resolving base product issues, providing work around/data patching for base product/customisation issues, fixing defects found during unit testing, system integration testing and acceptance testing and analysis, and design and development of custom functionality
  • Extensive experience in a busy IT department
  • Strong project management skills
  • Broad knowledge of technologies across the IT landscape
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities, adapting to changing business demands, whilst also being able to set expectations with internal customers
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Highly computer literate; with strong Business Analysis skills
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools desirable
