Job Description

Arbuthnot Commercial Asset Based Lending is a specialist asset based lender, focused on delivering facilities to SME and lower mid-market corporates. We provide full asset based lending facilities plus cash flow loans in support of acquisition, refinancing, cash-out and turnaround scenarios. Our business has been founded on strong established relationships with key business introducers, including the leading corporate advisory, accountancy firms and Private Equity houses

Our aim is to build long-term relationships with our clients and their advisors, supporting their objectives throughout the business and economic cycle.

We are a subsidiary of Arbuthnot Latham, an independent bank offering private and commercial banking, wealth planning, investment management and specialist finance.

Role Overview
 

This is a second line of defence role, managing the structuring, approving and onboarding of new clients in accordance with corporate objectives, approved policy & appetite statements and best practice, ensuring accuracy and integrity of data and records, as well as detecting errors and fraud

To provide credit oversight on material client annual reviews, amendments and new business proposals.

To attend and contribute at ACABL Internal Sightings and Credit Committee (ICC), as required

To liaise with the AL Credit team in relation to submissions to AL Credit Committee

To attend external meetings where required.

 
Description
 
  • To review and ensure the professional and comprehensive compilation of Credit Applications
  • To assess the quality of business proposals through the review and completion of appropriate due diligence checks, including financial information, Companies House/Creditsafe/internet searches, third party audit/valuation reports and appropriate product information
  • To assist and support in the sustainable growth of the ACABL lending book
  • To interact with the Business Development team ensuring that all new business is within ACABL’s appetite and responsible lending parameters
  • To provide ACABL credit oversight, via the preparation of a thorough and balanced Credit Assessment of each application, ensuring key risks are identified and suitably mitigated
  • To ensure adherence with ACABL Credit Policy and Procedures, highlighting any exceptions to policy
  • To attend, contribute and present, as required, at ACABL ICC
  • To work with panel lawyers to prepare legal agreements in line with credit sanction
  • To support and advise the portfolio team with respect to documenting client variations
  • To work with external advisors (Accountants, Auditors, Lawyers) as necessary
  • To onboard new clients in line with ABL procedures and risk appetite
  • To prepare Closing Memos and ensure Conditions Precedent are satisfied
  • To ensure the Client ABL Data Sheet is maintained, outlining key terms for each client
  • Ensure post-completion items are logged and completed
  • Ensure the British Business Bank portal is accurate in relation to GGS loans
  • To recognise and report compliance breaches, errors and potential frauds
  • To present a positive image of ACABL at all times

Key Interfaces

On a daily basis, interface with multiple internal stakeholders within ACABL and Arbuthnot Latham. From time to time interface with external stakeholders such as Auditors (internal and external), restructuring advisors, Panel Surveyors, Valuers and Solicitors

Person Specification

Knowledge / Experience

  • Proven track record in ABL/AR financing or similar environment
  • Comprehensive understanding of ABL/AR product range, procedures, markets and industry sectors
  • Strong analytical & financial analysis skills
  • Ability to multi-task whilst maintaining accuracy and quality
  • Strong risk focused approach
Qualifications
 
  • Relevant degree or professional qualification desirable but not essential.
