Asset Alliance Group (AAG) is a subsidiary of Arbuthnot Latham which has been associated with Banking since 1833. AAG serves the commercial vehicle, bus, coach, and general asset finance sectors with tailored award-winning lending, contract hire, rental and finance packages. It is a full-service finance and leasing business.
We are looking to appoint a National Rental Manager within the Commercial Vehicle Division to further develop our ambitious UK-wide rental proposition plans and manage the Rental P&L. This would suit an experienced industry specialist with the energy and drive to help build and grow an exciting new service within a growing and sustainable organisation.
Role Summary
The National Rental Manager for Commercial Vehicles is responsible for driving the growth and efficiency of our rental operations across multiple depots nationwide. This role includes full P&L responsibility, managing a high-performing team of both direct and indirect reports, increasing vehicle utilisation, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and maintaining exemplary customer satisfaction levels. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, excellent operational skills, and a deep understanding of the commercial vehicle rental market.
Increase Utilisation
- Develop and implement strategic plans to optimise vehicle availability and utilisation rates across all depots.
- Analyse rental trends and market demands to forecast needs and adjust fleet availability accordingly.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to enhance visibility and promote rental offerings.
Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a dedicated team of rental and depot staff across multiple sites.
- Establish clear performance objectives, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
- Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork, professional development, and accountability.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee daily rental operations to ensure efficient processes and maximum productivity.
- Implement best practices and standard operating procedures to streamline operations and improve customer experiences, in line with trade association best practice.
- Review rental agreements and pricing structures to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
- Monitor competitor activity and initiatives to influence the rental strategy.
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders to foster loyalty and retention.
- Address customer enquiries, concerns, and service issues promptly to enhance client satisfaction.
- Gather and analyse customer feedback to inform service improvements and operational adjustments.
Asset Management
- Collaborating with the Asset Management Team and Fleet Operations.
- Ensure that the rental fleet profile is maintained within the agreed parameters i.e. age and recorded distance / upper limit.
Financial Management
- Working with the Commercial Director prepare and manage the rental operations budget, forecast revenue, and optimise cost structures.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare regular reports for senior management on rental performance and opportunities for growth.
- Ensure that all sales channels and rental opportunities comply with the appropriate credit & risk governance and that payment terms are adhered to.
