Job Description

The Risk Assurance Associate is responsible for providing assurance on the effectiveness of the key controls across the Arbuthnot Latham business, including the Bank’s subsidiaries.

To place the interests of customers at the centre of all activities, act in a way that is consistent with achieving good outcomes for consumers; and to comply with the FCA and PRA's Conduct Rules. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support the Risk Assurance Manager to implement the key control testing in line with the Risk Monitoring Plan.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of key controls and identify areas for improvement, contributing to the development of effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders across the business to support the embedding of the Bank’s Risk Management Framework and System.
  • Provide insightful recommendations based on control assessment outcomes, fostering a proactive risk-aware culture throughout the organisation.
  • Support the Risk Assurance Manager in the production of committee reporting, showing progress of key control testing against the Risk Monitoring Plan.
  • Follow-up and verify completion of management actions in connection with monitoring undertaken.
Risk:
  • Responsible for managing risks inherent to the role by diligently observing internal policies and procedures.

Key Interfaces:

  • Team members and managers within the Chief Risk Office (Risk, Compliance, Credit, Financial Crime and Internal Audit).
  • Risk & control owners and assessors across the business: Head Office, Front Office, COO and AL Subsidiaries.
 
 
Person Specification

Knowledge/Experience/Skills:

  • Ability to conduct independent monitoring on the effectiveness of processes/controls.
  • Financial services experience with strong knowledge of risk and control frameworks.
  • Experience of risk management within a 1LOD or 2LOD role.
  • Analytical skills and an excellent eye for detail with a methodical approach.
  • Numerate and technically minded with strong IT skills.
  • Enthusiastic and able to demonstrate a positive and flexible approach.
  • Team player, supporting both your colleagues and managers in delivering new projects and supporting existing systems.
  • Self-motivated and driven to learn and develop yourself

Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level (not essential) or relevant industry qualifications preferred.
  • Qualified or part-qualified in an audit related field (e.g Accountancy, IIA, Systems Auditing) preferred.
