Job purpose
The Business Analyst (BA) will be a problem solver who plays a critical role in defining and enabling business and technology change within the Client and Marketing Systems.
The BA will be required to support the Platform transformation roadmap and project portfolio by collecting, analysing and interpreting data from a range of sources to help deliver insight that will enable the Platform to make key decisions and achieve its strategic objectives.
To accomplish this the BA will need to build a deep understanding of the current Platform operating model (People, Process and Technology), and working on agreed initiatives, document business requirements in relation to business focused IT solutions.
The BA will play a key role working with internal teams and external partners, acting as a 'translator' where necessary to convey how technology can support the business needs.
To place the interests of customers at the centre of all activities, act in a way that is consistent with achieving good outcomes for consumers and to comply with the FCA and PRA's Conduct Rules.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with colleagues across business and operations to understand the needs of each team and the Platform in relation to a specific business problem or potential change/transformation.
- Provide options assessments and impact assessments across a range of potential operating model design solutions/decisions, fully documenting the benefits, limitations and any associated risks. Identify the processes and technology required to introduce recommendations.
- Gathering, identifying and documenting business requirements. Often through the facilitation of both virtual and face to face workshops involving a range of business stakeholders.
- Lead the documentation of key artefacts such as business requirements definitions non-functional requirements and user stories. Articulating them in a way that is easily understood by business stakeholders, IT teams and external partners.
- Analysis of existing business and operational processes and client journeys, identifying gaps and improvements and defining an improved future state. And in doing so contribute towards the production of the ‘as-is’ and ‘to-be’/target operating model for the Client and Marketing Systems.
- Work with external technology partners to gather information regarding product/system roadmaps and integrate this the definition of the future state operating model of the Platform.
- Use a range of communication tools and techniques in order to gain buy-in from business sponsors and the wider IT community for your recommendations and the best method of introducing them into the Platform.
- Work closely with the SMEs from Platform shared service teams to assess solutions against key architectural principles, design standards and policies (business, technology, data privacy and data security).
- Support the Senior Project Manager and Project Manager by leading analytical tasks required to produce effective business cases. And in doing so support key platform investment appraisal decisions.
- When required, execute data analysis and visualisation techniques to add insight to management information extracted from existing reports and data sources.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Test Managers throughout all project testing phases. This may involve supporting or, where when required, leading test activity such as test script creation, test execution, defect triage, issue resolution and associated reporting.
- Support Change Management activities across a range of Platform projects by leading business adoption activities such as training needs analysis and training material production and delivery (when required).
- Take ownership of any outstanding requirements, defects and issues at the point of project handover to BAU and ensure that these items are captured within the appropriate Platform change / operating model backlog.
- Input into the development of the Bank’s Change Capability through active contribution to the Change Management Community practice area. Helping to develop AL’s internal Business Analysis capabilities.
- Ensure that own knowledge is up to date and is reflective of internal and industry best practice. In terms of Change Management / Business Analysis methodology and techniques, Client and Marketing Systems subject matter and Client and Marketing Systems technology solutions.
