Job purpose

This role is responsible for leading multi-disciplinary teams to develop and execute change programmes that align with the bank's strategic goals.

To place the interests of customers at the centre of all activities, act in a way that is consistent with achieving good outcomes for consumers; and to comply with the FCA and PRA's Conduct Rules.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of large change programmes to agreed timescales, cost and quality. Ensuring that all project activity within the programme is delivered in adherence to the Bank’s Change Framework, change processes, risk controls and delivery/governance performance metrics.
  • Proactively track programme benefit delivery (qualitative and quantitative) to ensure that they are delivered in line with the agreed outcomes within programme business cases.
  • Work closely with Operational and Front Office business functions to ensure that support is obtained from these areas, in a timely manner, to deliver the agreed programme outcomes.
  • Ensure that task management of key roles across the Programme of work including project managers, business analysts, PMO, IT application development SMEs and external vendor resource where appropriate, is carried out to prioritise work in line with Programme delivery priorities.
  • Work with 3rd party vendors and technology partners to ensure that resource is obtained and aligned to support programme delivery plans.
  • Ensure effective risk control processes and practices are in place across the programmes that they are leading to maintain delivery in line with defined RCSA performance metrics. Creating a culture that continually probes, debates and identifies solutions for issues and risks.
  • Embed cost management across the Programme that that they are leading to ensure that change is delivered in line with agreed budgets. And in doing so, identify opportunities to control (and where appropriate reduce) 3rd party costs.
  • Execute robust supplier management and 3rd party contractual/commercial processes required for the delivery of projects and programmes. Including close liaison with AL’s Operational Resilience, Procurement and Legal teams.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that Transformation Projects and Programmes that they are leading adhere to the requirements of the Bank’s Change Management Framework & Governance practices. Ensuring timely and accurate reporting into the PMO function.
  • Work closely with specialist shared service teams across IT Architecture, Information Security and Data Privacy to ensure that technology and operational designs are aligned with all required Bank standards and policies.
  • Line Management of more junior colleagues within the IT & Transformation Function.

Person Specification

Knowledge/Experience/Skills:

  • Proven track record in leading, developing and delivering large change programmes in a Financial Services environment.
  • Good understanding of the Financial Services industry (Wealth Management, Private Banking & Commercial Banking is desirable).
  • Advanced matrix management experience with the ability to seek and obtain committed resourcing in a timely manner.
  • Experience leading and developing teams (including coaching and support of junior team members).
  • Advanced understanding of change methodologies and frameworks (Waterfall and Agile).
  • Experience of project financial analysis, budgeting and cost management at project and portfolio level.
  • Proficient in the use of standard MS Office applications (including MS Visio and MS Project).
  • Experience and understanding of Supplier Management and procurement processes.
  • Good business and commercial acumen.
  • Ability to manage self and manage others through multiple conflicting priorities, adapting to changing business demands.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence others.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:

  • Change or Project Management qualifications expected
  • MSP Managing Successful Programmes / APM Project Professional (PPQ) (or equivalent qualification / experience)
