Job Description

This role is only open to the employees of Arbuthnot Latham. 

An integral role in providing first class service to clients, the Treasury team and the wider Arbuthnot Latham Business. The role requires regulatory and operational knowledge and will be responsible for implementing and maintaining processes relating to all aspects of payments for clients and the investment department and treasury, including regulatory reporting.

As a senior member of the team this role is responsible for ensuring that all payments and treasury operations are fulfilled in line with procedures, service level agreements and with a high first-time yield. This role will oversee activities carried out by Operations Assistants within the team and provide support to the Team Leader and Manager.


Key Responsibilities:
 

Client Service

  • Monitor and verify all payments for Arbuthnot Latham clients and interbank including but not limited to CHAPS, Faster Payments, SWIFT, SEPA FX deals and other treasury payments.
  • Investigate queries relating to all transactions.
  • Monitor work items to ensure that SLA’s are met with a view to exceeding them.
  • Generate and issue Client advices within SLA’s.
  •  Be responsible for end of day queue checking, checklist and BOE payment.

People

  • Facilitate and support cross training within the Payments & Treasury team.
  • Oversee work completed by Operations Assistants and Treasury Operations.
  • Encourage teamwork within the Payments and Treasury Team and wider Banking and Treasury Department.
 

Finance

  • Reconcile all relevant suspense accounts and actively chase outstanding entries.
  • Monitor daily cash sheet and cash management between accounts.
  • Monitor and liaise with the Treasury team through the day positions.
  • Invoice checking.

Risk and operational excellence:

  • Responsible for managing risks inherent to the role by diligently observing internal policies and procedures.
  • Generate and deliver continuous improvement to processes to enhance client service.
  • Investigate errors and complaints to establish root causes and take action taken to avoid repetition and support resolution.
  • Ensure all operational guidelines are followed and maintained.
  • Sanction checking inward and outward payments.
  • Responsible for understanding, preparing, submitting and reconciling key regulatory reports, including EMIR and MIFIR.
  • Set up and oversee the daily process of Securities and Interest Rate Swaps (CDs, FRNs, Bonds) Settlement.
  • Oversee the lifecycle of traded instruments including trade upload, settlements, confirmations and reconciliations.
  • Adhoc project work including system testing and report building.
  • Logging of risk events, incidents and monitoring to completion.
  • Responsible for observing and updating procedures.
  • Review FLoD testing results for Payments and Treasury processes.

  • Within COO – CST, Operations Control Team
  • Within AL – Treasury, Bankers, Private Banking Executives, Financial Crime, Audit
  •  Externally – Correspondence Banks, Counterparties, Custodians, Trade repositories, SWIFT, Third Party Suppliers

Person Specification

Knowledge/Experience/Skills:

  • Previous experience in a Payments/Settlements/Back Office role
  • Knowledge of end to end Faster Payments, CHAPS and SWIFT and SEPA payments.
  • An understanding of Treasury back office functions.
  • Experience preparing and submitting key regulatory reports such as EMIR and MIFIR are desirable.
  • A good understanding of Money Market & FX.
  • Knowledge of Interest Rate Swaps, Securities, Derivatives settlement/confirmation.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage time efficiently.
  • High competency with Outlook, Microsoft Office & Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with clients, providers and senior management coupled with a high level of confidentiality, diplomacy and discretion.
  • Strong organisational skills with a key focus on attention to detail.
  • Team player able to work on own initiative.
  • Self-motivated individual with a “can do” attitude and ability to energise others.
