Job purpose

The Technical Lead will be responsible for the technical management of the Tercero, AutoRek, Equisoft, SUN, DB Authorise and other supporting applications pertinent to Investment Management & Finance.  This includes leading performance, maintenance, and development integral to these platforms and coordinating with suppliers and internal AL stakeholders. Understanding business requirements and how to implement those to create innovative solutions to solve business needs.

The role will act as a lead of Investment Management & Finance Application Support and Specialists where focus will be on developing, designing, implementing, and maintaining new and existing business focussed IT solutions.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Take the technical lead on a critical business system integral to the running of the Bank that supports all the banks primary service offerings.
  • Act as an escalation point for the Application Specialist & Support within the platform and engage with 3rd party vendors to escalate priority issues when required.
  • Assure Platform performance and stability in accordance with agreed SLAs and provide leadership and coordination in the resolution of platform defects, outages, and incidents.
  • Provide vision and direction to the Head of Investment Management & Finance Platforms and stakeholders with expert advice and knowledge.
  • Work collaboratively with business stakeholders and operational teams to lead defect backlog prioritisation and scheduling.
  • Work closely with other Technical Leads, Architecture function, and other IT leaders to define priority targets, developmental and implementation opportunities.
  • Define the Platform strategy and vision, including the roadmap of future enhancements and growth opportunities.
  • Be a key person responsible for liaising with suppliers to agree the roadmap of priority projects and services to be provided.
  • Work with those vendors to ensure code and designs provided are quality checked and up to Arbuthnot standards.As well as working to reduce vendor costs by implementing improvements to the platform or streamlining/adopting processes.
  • Provide leadership to ensure management of priority tasks including the plan of developments to be completed, release planning, testing strategies and planned maintenance.
  • Keep abreast of industry technical best practices and new trends, ensuring innovative development of systems to meet organisational immediate and future needs.
  • To lead and develop members of the Platform team, providing appropriate line management, mentoring, and coaching to support growth and progression.

Person Specification

Knowledge/Experience/Skills:

  • Extensive experience in supporting Investment Management & trading platforms and supporting integrations and market connections. Specific knowledge of Tercero is desirable but not essential.
  • Substantial experience in the Azure Cloud and implementations.
  • Substantial experience implementing and testing patching of applications and ongoing maintenance relating to cyber security.
  • Substantial experience supporting Finance systems, including General ledgers and other regulatory return applications.
  • Extensive experience interpreting problems and factoring in to ongoing operating model, including documenting and training to handover to BAU.
  • Extensive experience in developing monitoring and best practice for a range of applications.
  • Strong IT Governance mind on keeping risk to a minimum within the platform and escalated through appropriate forums.
  • Substantial experience leading a small team of technical specialists.
  • In-depth knowledge of Investment Management & Finance systems, processes, and principles.
  • Broad knowledge of technologies across the IT landscape.
  • Substantial experience on leading software development and consulting and working in continuous improvement environment.
  • Substantial experience with developing integration solutions and architecting a service-oriented platform.
  • Helping for API integrations and Data model mappings as Subject Matter Expert.
  • Supervise optimisations and code refactors.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to plan and review.
  • Highly computer literate; with strong Business Analysis skills.
  • Cloud Architecture experience preferable.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with colleagues, providers, and senior management.
  • Ability to influence key stakeholders and drive collaboration across the organisation.
