Job purpose
The Test Manager is a hands on role within a small testing team to support Arbuthnot Latham’s existing business applications and new system implementations. The role supports Arbuthnot Latham’s testing strategy, and will work with the Senior Change Manager in setting up and maintaining a first-class testing capability. It ensures that any changes to Arbuthnot Latham’s business applications are effectively tested against agreed functional and non-functional requirements prior to production deployment. In addition to this, the role has responsibility for ensuring the effective scheduling, use and management of pre-production environment availability, performance and integrity to enable quality testing and production releases to be carried out.
The role will be required to work across multiple projects which will each range from c£50k through to £1m+.
Key Responsibilities

Defines & implements the overall test approach for each project; works effectively with IT, Change Management, the Business and 3rd party vendors to determine which types of testing (e.g. non-functional, UAT) are required and aligns the business and IT test phases

Ensures that all test phases have appropriate entry / exit criteria and monitors achievement of these criteria

Defines the business solution acceptance criteria and obtains sign-off against these prior to go-live

Supports the business in the production of test scripts. Where necessary will produce test scripts.

Executes test scripts and testing activities where required

Understands the overall project or programme benefits and how the delivered solution impacts these; selects appropriate test approaches (e.g. risk-based) to ensure delivery of benefits is not compromised

Creates and maintains demand/supply for Business, Operational, Change and IT test resource (internal and external)

Ensures effective issue escalation to senior management where there is a significant threat to delivery

Implements a well-structured approach to test defect management and incident reporting

Works with IT & Environments Management, to ensure the availability of appropriate test environments and data.

Owns and resolves issues around the technical solution delivered into the business test environment

Contributes to the definition of the cut-over approach, is key to the go / no-go decision making process

Determines whether test phases will be automated and selects and implements appropriate test tools.

Produces the overall test delivery plan defining the business and IT test deliverable milestones, test tasks and activities; tracks progress against this and implements strategies to recover slippage

Uses different approaches to estimating timescales, effort and costs for the testing phases

Monitors and reports the status and progress of each test phase to different stakeholders

Works within the overall project or programme governance defined by the Project / Programme Manager and contributes to formal project reviews at appropriate points in the project lifecycle

Supports the Senior Change Managers and Head of Change Management in the development of the Testing function and testing best practice across the Bank
