Job purpose

  • To manage and lead a team of Mortgage Specialist Lending Advisors (“MSLA”), Credit Analysts and Mortgage Specialist Assistants.
  • The team will be responsible for working with high net worth (HNW) clients to provide specialist advice and tailored mortgage and lending solutions.
  • To meet the regulated lending needs of the Bank’s private clients and to meet and exceed agreed financial targets
  • To place the interests of customers at the centre of all activities, act in a way that is consistent with achieving good outcomes for consumers; and
  • To comply with the FCA and PRA's Conduct Rules.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Team Management

  • Manage and motivate the team to exceed demanding business targets and ensure unwavering commitment to client service
  • Mentor, coach and day-to-day line management of direct reports
  • Conduct performance reviews for direct reports
  • Manage performance issues, escalating longer term complex issues as appropriate
  • Represent the banking population as a member of the Senior Leadership Team
  • Take overall responsibility for the team’s risk and regulatory performance and promote a team risk culture
  • Fulfil the responsibilities required under the FCA’s Senior Manager and Certification Regimes, and Conduct Rules
  • Take overall responsibility for the team’s financial objectives including strategy for lending and wealth planning growth

Client Management

  • Be a Trusted Advisor, providing guidance across the full range of wealth management services and acting as a consistent, credible and accessible point of contact for the team, providing technical advice and guidance on the complex cases.
  • Maintain a high level of segment and industry knowledge and share this with team members
  • Demonstrate ownership of the regulated mortgage proposition overseeing change in connection with regulatory requirements.

Client Acquisition

  • Build and implement a marketing and business development strategy in conjunction with the Head of UK Private Banking
  • Expand the size and quality of your team’s client base and lead client allocation within the team
  • Develop new and existing relationships with Business Introducers and Mortgage Brokers to increase mortgage penetration
  • Be responsible for the team’s event strategy and for leading team events
  • Be responsible for the team’s specialist proposition and represent the proposition both internally and externally

Risk

  • Accountable for managing the risks detailed in the department’s RCSA on day-to-day basis.

Person Specification

Knowledge / Experience/Skills:

  • You will have a proven track record in Wealth Management with broad experience across the financial services industry and detailed knowledge of Private Banking market
  • Detailed and demonstrable technical knowledge and experience of regulated mortgage lending and a good understanding of all lending
  • Significant Private Banking experience in dealing with HNW individuals
  • Proven Leadership capability
  • Proven Sales Management experience
