Job Purpose

The role will provide overall direction and leadership of platform teams, where focus will be on developing, designing, implementing and maintaining new and existing business focussed technology driven platform solutions.

Have overall responsibility for managing the platforms and supplier relationships for 3rd party systems that support the Bank. This includes building the strategy for the ongoing development of platforms, developing business cases for change, driving performance and maintenance, and leading the delivery of projects aimed at enhancing the Operating Model (Technology and Operational/Business Processes).

Develop platform strategies and maintain the change roadmap to support the future needs of the business whilst ensuring the platforms remain compliant with information security standards and regulatory requirements.

Work with the COO; Director, Service Strategy and Optimisation; CIO and Business Functional Leads to define the Bank’s Platform Roadmap. This will include business case development, investment appraisal and budgeting, the production and maintenance of the aggregate plan and managing project and programme dependencies and risks where ownership is within platform team.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Direct the approach and activities for the systems and platforms that support delivery of Banking, Treasury and Investment Services, including digital channels by working collaboratively with business stakeholders, internal IT service providers and external third-party platform providers.
  • Provide leadership and direction to Platform teams responsible for developing, maintaining and running the systems and platforms that support the core banking and investment services, including digital channels.
  • Responsible for ensuring exacting standards of quality, security (including IT Security and Data Privacy), continuity of service, commercial outcomes, governance, policy, processes and tools needed to meet AL and customer needs.
  • Assure Platform performance in accordance with agreed SLAs and provide leadership and coordination in the resolution of platform defects, outages and incidents.
  • Planning, agreeing (including business care where required) and managing the pipeline of activity for the team in order to optimise resource capacity and workloads, whilst securing timely engagement and input from cross platform shared service functions.
  • Work collaboratively with senior business and IT stakeholders to lead prioritisation of strategic changes and ongoing improvements and maintenance.
  • Work closely with other Senior Leads, IT and Business Leaders to ensure that support is obtained from these areas to deliver the agreed outcomes.
  • Direct the management of key third-party platform suppliers including managing and maintaining supplier cost budgets for current year and future year budgeting.
  • Financial responsibility for maintaining and optimising costs within agreed Investment and Operational budgets.
  • Lead the planning of Platform release plans and set the expectation for delivery of new functional and non-functional improvements.
  • Keep abreast of industry and technical best practices and trends, ensuring development of systems to meet organisational immediate and future needs.

Risk:

  • Accountable for managing the risks detailed in the department’s RCSA on day to day basis.
  • Ensure adherence of delivery to the Change Delivery Risk Control Framework and that measurement of performance against defined delivery risk performance metrics are maintained.

Person Specification

Knowledge/Experience/Skills:

  • Experience at a Senior Leadership level with responsibility for technology driven platforms within financial services (FS).
  • Deep domain technology / platform experience including strategic development, working with multiple third party suppliers and leading a technology orientated function.
  • A strong track record of delivering complex technology driven change alongside maintaining required performance levels and delivery standards.
  • Appropriate knowledge of the Regulatory environment.
  • Good understanding of FS industry and the supporting ecosystem, specifically Wealth Management, Private Banking and Commercial Banking.
  • Experience of managing large investment budgets with extensive knowledge of financial management and cost control processes.
  • Proven track record in leading the development, planning and delivery of large, complex portfolios of primarily technology orientated change initiatives.
  • Extensive experience and understanding of supplier management, procurement, legal and commercial processes. With demonstrable evidence of leading contractual / commercial negotiation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with experience of stakeholder management at a senior leadership level.
  • A strong leader and communicator with the ability to present to and engage colleagues at all levels within the organisation.
  • A team leader with a track record of attracting, recruiting, developing and retaining high performing teams.
  • Highly developed organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple conflicting priorities for self and others.
  • Highly developed analytical skills with the ability to make well informed and judged decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree or extensive equivalent working and leadership experience.
  • Accreditation from Chartered IT Professional (CITP) or similar
