Job Purpose

This role will be responsible for managing the platforms and supplier relationships for 3rd party systems that support critical areas of the Arbuthnot Latham business. This includes, building the strategy for the ongoing platform performance and maintenance, platform development and leading the delivery of projects aimed at enhancing the Platform Operating Model (Technology and Operational/Business Processes).

The role will lead a team of multi-disciplined specialists, where focus will be on developing, designing, implementing and maintaining new and existing business focussed IT solutions.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Take the lead of a team of multi-disciplined specialists responsible for systems and platforms that support delivery of critical services to the business.
  • Responsible for ensuring exacting standards of quality, security (incl IT Security and Data Privacy), continuity of service, commercial outcomes, governance, policy, processes and tools needed to meet AL and customer needs.
  • Assure Platform performance in accordance with agreed SLAs and provide leadership and coordination in the resolution of platform defects, outages and incidents.
  • Providing vision and direction to the Platform development team and stakeholders throughout projects and creating customer focussed outcomes.
  • Planning and managing the pipeline of activity for the Platform team (both engineering and change disciplines) in order to optimise resource capacity and workloads, whilst securing timely engagement and input from cross platform shared service functions.
  • Work collaboratively with business stakeholders and operational teams to lead prioritisation of changes and lead defect backlog prioritisation and scheduling.
  • Work closely with other Senior Leads, IT and Change Leaders to ensure that support is obtained from these areas to deliver the agreed outcomes.
  • Define the Platform strategy and vision, including the road-map of future enhancements and growth opportunities.
  • Supplier Management responsibility for all third-party supplier relationships that directly provide platforms/systems for the defined applications within the assigned role. This includes managing and maintaining supplier cost budgets for current year and future year budgeting.
  • Be the main person responsible for liaising with suppliers to agree the roadmap of priority projects and services to be provided.
  • Assess value, develop business cases, and prioritise work/projects to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with Platform/system strategy. Maintain the transformation road-map for specific area of responsibility that feeds into the annual budgeting cycle. Lead the delivery of change projects across the Platform in accordance with the Bank’s Change Management and Supplier Management Frameworks.
  • Provide leadership to ensure management of priority tasks including the plan of developments to be completed, release planning, testing strategies and planned maintenance.
  • Work closely with Stakeholders and Product Management to create and maintain a product backlog according to business value or ROI.
  • Financial responsibility for maintaining and optimising costs within agreed Investment and Operational budgets.
  • Lead the planning of Platform release plans and set the expectation for delivery of newfunctionalities.
  • Research and analyse market, the users, and the road-map for the Platform, including a knowledge of emerging technology trends/providers that may become suitable future technology partners.
  • Keep abreast of industry technical best practices and new trends, ensuring innovative development of systems to meet organisational immediate and future needs.
  • To lead and develop members of the Platform team, providing appropriate line management, mentoring and coaching to support growth and progression.
  • Responsible for managing risks inherent to the role by diligently observing internal policies and procedures.

Knowledge/Experience/Skills:

  • Extensive experience as a Senior Leader in IT/ & Change
  • Experience working within relevant IT Platform (Banking, Client and Marketing, IM/Finance Systems) at a Management level
  • In-depth knowledge of banking systems process and principles
  • Extensive knowledge of FS regulations for relevant IT Platform
