Job Purpose

The Business Change Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and embedding business change activities across Arbuthnot Latham Transformation initiatives.

The Business Change Manager works closely with business leadership, project teams, and the banks control functions to ensure change is effectively adopted and embedded into business-as-usual operations, with minimal disruption to clients and colleagues.

To place the interests of customers at the centre of all activities, act in a way that is consistent with achieving good outcomes for consumers and to comply with the FCA and PRA's Conduct Rules.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Plan and deliver change management activities for strategic & platform initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain change plans aligned to programme delivery, regulatory milestones, and business priorities.
  • Conduct detailed change impact assessments across people, process, technology, data, and controls.
  • Support the transition of change into business-as-usual, ensuring operational readiness and sustainability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across all business areas including Front Office, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and IT.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for business change, providing insight on readiness, sequencing, dependencies, and delivery risks.
  • Facilitate governance forums, workshops, and stakeholder sessions to support decision-making and alignment.
  • Develop and execute UK-specific change management strategies, including communications, engagement, and training plans.
  • Support senior leaders and line managers in preparing their teams for change and meeting regulatory expectations.
  • Ensure client-facing teams are fully equipped to adopt new systems, processes, and ways of working without detriment to client outcomes.
  • Ensure alignment with key UK frameworks such as SMCR, Consumer Duty, Operational Resilience, AML, and KYC.
  • Partner closely with Risk, Compliance, and Legal to embed controls, policies, and procedures effectively.
  • Ensure change artefacts meet UK governance, audit, and regulatory scrutiny standards.
  • Support the definition, tracking, and reporting of benefits and regulatory outcomes.
  • Contribute to post-implementation reviews, regulatory attestations, and lessons learned.
  • Identify opportunities to improve UK change capability, consistency, and delivery effectiveness.

Risk:

  • Responsible for managing risks inherent to the role by diligently observing internal policies and procedures.

Person Specification

  Knowledge/Experience/Skills:
 
  •  Proven experience as a Change Manager within UK banking or financial services.
  • Experience delivering or supporting regulatory and compliance-driven change.
  • Knowledge of UK regulatory environment, including FCA and PRA expectations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience engaging UK senior leaders.
  • Experience working within formal governance, risk, and control frameworks.
  • Good understanding of Financial Services industry, specifically Wealth Management, Private Banking & Commercial Banking.
  • Knowledge of AL’s Wealth Management, Private Banking & Commercial Banking proposition, products and services is desirable.
  • Experience supporting Consumer Duty, SMCR, Operational Resilience, AML, or KYC change programme is desirable.
  • Exposure to UK core banking platforms or client-facing digital change.
  • Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery models.
  • A self-starter who works as an independent, individual contributor and cooperative teammate.
  • Ability to think on your feet and provide realistic solutions to complex business problems.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills that enable timely completion of goals at expected levels of quality.
  • Detail oriented mind-set to tasks and deadline-driven attitude to deliverables.
  • The ability to work under pressure on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Passionate about constantly learning and seeks opportunities to share within the team for collective success.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver presentations to peers and senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office core application skills including a high proficiency with MS Excel and MS Visio. Experience with DevOps desirable.

Qualifications:

  • Change management certification is desirable (e.g. Prosci, APMG, Agile Change).
  • APM Project Management (PMQ) (or equivalent qualification / experience) is desirable.
