Job purpose

The Senior Risk Assurance Analyst works with the Risk Assurance Manager, under the direction of the Senior Risk Assurance Manager, to deliver the Risk Monitoring Plan and to provide assurance on quality of the risk registers and the testing of key controls across the Arbuthnot Latham business, including the Bank’s subsidiaries.  This role holder will also provide support and guidance on a wide variety of risk topics to stakeholders and will play a key role in the management of risk events and support the Committee reporting process.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Supports the Risk Assurance Manager in conducting the key control testing and assessments of the Risk Registers in line with the Risk Monitoring Plan.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of key controls and identify areas for improvement, contributing to the development of effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders across the business to support the embedding of the Bank’s Risk Management Framework and System.
  • Provide insightful recommendations based on control assessment outcomes, fostering a proactive risk-aware culture throughout the organisation.
  • Support the Senior Risk Assurance Manager in the production of committee reporting, as well as showing progress of key control testing against the Risk Monitoring Plan.
  • Follow-up and verify completion of management actions in connection with monitoring undertaken.
  • Working with the Risk Assurance Officer to manage the risk event process, working with stakeholders to ensure risks events are accurately documented, triaged, reviewing the root cause analysis and ensuring that all steps of the process are completed in a timely manner.
  • Supports the Senior Risk Assurance Manager in the monitoring of any ineffective controls or outside of appetite risks ensuring updates are provided for inclusion within reporting.

Risk:

  • Responsible for managing risks inherent to the role by diligently observing internal policies and procedures.

Key Interfaces:

  • Team members and managers within the Chief Risk Office (Risk, Compliance, Credit, Financial Crime) and Internal Audit.
  • Risk and control owners and assessors across the business: Head Office, Front Office, COO and AL Subsidiaries.

Knowledge/Experience/Skills:

  • Ability to conduct independent monitoring on the effectiveness of processes/controls.
  • Financial services experience with strong knowledge of risk and control frameworks.
  • Experience of risk management within a 1LOD or 2LOD role.
  • Analytical skills and an excellent eye for detail with a methodical approach.
  • Numerate and technically minded with strong IT skills.
  • Enthusiastic and able to demonstrate a positive and flexible approach.
  • Team player, supporting both your colleagues and managers in delivering new projects and supporting existing systems.
  • Self-motivated and driven to learn and develop yourself.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level (not essential) or relevant industry qualifications preferred.
  • Qualified or part-qualified in an audit related field (e.g Accountancy, IIA, Systems Auditing) preferred.
