Job Purpose

The Head of Technology Platforms is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational management and continuous development of a portfolio of business-critical technology platforms that support the delivery of Arbuthnot Latham's products, services and operations.  Specifically the Digital solution stack 

The role is accountable for platform performance, resilience, security, supplier management, financial management and the delivery of technology and business change initiatives. The role leads multi-disciplinary teams responsible for the design, development, implementation, support and enhancement of technology platforms, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements and customer needs. 

The Head of Technology Platforms will define and execute the platform strategy and roadmap, ensuring technology investments maximise business value whilst maintaining high standards of service, governance, risk management and operational effectiveness. 

To place the interests of customers at the centre of all activities, act in a manner consistent with delivering good customer outcomes and comply with all applicable FCA and PRA Conduct Rules. 

Job Description 

Leadership & Strategy 

  • Provide strategic leadership for assigned technology platforms and associated services. 
  • Define, maintain and execute platform strategies, roadmaps and investment plans aligned to business objectives. 
  • Develop long-term platform capabilities that support innovation, scalability, operational efficiency and customer outcomes. 
  • Lead and develop multi-disciplinary teams, fostering a high-performance culture and supporting colleague growth and development. 

Platform Management 

  • Ensure platforms remain secure, resilient, compliant and fit for purpose. 
  • Maintain service performance in line with agreed service levels and operational objectives. 
  • Lead the resolution of platform incidents, defects, problems and major service disruptions. 
  • Oversee release planning, platform maintenance, testing strategies and lifecycle management activities. 
  • Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture, technology standards, governance frameworks and security requirements. 

Change & Delivery 

  • Lead the delivery of technology and business change initiatives across assigned platforms. 
  • Manage platform backlogs, priorities and delivery pipelines to maximise business value and resource utilisation. 
  • Partner with business stakeholders to prioritise enhancements, regulatory changes and strategic initiatives. 
  • Work with Business and Strategy teams to develop business cases and investment proposals to support platform enhancements and transformation programmes. 
  • Maintain platform roadmaps that support annual planning and budgeting cycles. 

Supplier & Commercial Management 

  • Manage relationships with third-party technology suppliers and strategic partners. 
  • Negotiate and oversee supplier performance against contractual and service commitments. 
  • Influence supplier roadmaps and service development to support business requirements. 
  • Ensure supplier governance arrangements are effective and deliver value for the organisation. 

Financial Management 

  • Oversight of platform investment and operational budgets. 
  • Drive cost optimisation whilst ensuring service quality and business outcomes are maintained. 
  • Support forecasting, planning and financial governance activities. 

Risk, Governance & Compliance 

  • Ensure effective management of technology, operational, security and regulatory risks. 
  • Maintain compliance with relevant policies, standards and regulatory obligations. 
  • Promote strong governance, controls and operational discipline across platform activities. 
  • Support internal and external audit activities as required. 

Stakeholder Management 

  • Build strong relationships with senior business stakeholders, technology leaders and operational teams. 
  • Act as the primary technology lead for assigned platforms. 
  • Communicate platform strategy, priorities, risks and performance to stakeholders and governance forums. 

Innovation & Continuous Improvement 

  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies and market developments. 
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer experience, operational effectiveness and platform capability. 
  • Champion continuous improvement and the adoption of technology best practices.

Person Specification

Knowledge/Experience/Skills: 

  • Extensive experience as a Senior Leader in IT/ & Change 
  • Experience working within relevant IT Platform (Banking, Client and Marketing, IM/Finance Systems) at a Management level  
  • In-depth knowledge of banking systems process and principles  
  • Extensive knowledge of FS regulations for relevant IT Platform  
  • Highly developed leadership skills 
  • Highly developed communication skills 
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills 
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
