Job Description

To manage and support the IT team and Change Management Team in delivering key projects and process improvements in order to generate improved efficiency, effectiveness and profit to the business.

The role will be required to research, evaluate, define, plan, organise, control and deliver medium projects through cross functional teams &/or workstreams of large projects. Project management of all IT interests initially across our Banking Operations Portfolio, which will include some regulatory projects. This will involve working closely with the Change Management function, external software providers, internal IT teams such as Application Support, Environment Management, Architecture, Infrastructure, Information Security & Support teams. 

Ensure coordination with relevant areas to deliver seamless client service. Translate client needs into executable services. Actively and continuously drive service and quality standards. Champion the brand and related standards. Act as the conduit and manager of communications

The role reports into the IT Portfolio Manager and within a team of c30 people across the IT Delivery & IT Operations as well as the Senior PMO Manager.

Key tasks for the role will be:

•            Proactively coordinate with Environment and Release Management.

•            Actively engage on Project Working Groups and Steer Cos. There will also be instances where decisions will need to be presented.

•            Preserves assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures.

•            Escalate identified risks in accordance with internal governance processes and controls, creating a culture that continually probes, debates and identifies solutions for issues and risks

  • Project management of all IT interests across our various Portfolio’s and others where applicable

  • To ensure that you maintain knowledge of the regulatory environment and where relevant technical knowledge, to the firm and its subsidiaries

  • Build & manage the IT Delivery plan

  • Maintains organisation's effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies.

  • Ensure distribution of information and documents to the individual project team members

  • Independently analyse project-related data identifying any issues and attempting to resolve

  • Ensure all projects adhere to best practices, regulatory and audit requirements

  • Prepare and coordinate relevant change documentation

  • Hands-on work and individual input with business sponsors/IT to define project objectives and scope

  • Coordinate and track IT resource requirements

  • Engage in commercial discussions with third party vendors & review Statement of Works.

  • Ensure that IT is correctly used within projects that originate outside of the IT team

  • Work with Change and IT PMO lead to ensure timely, accurate and informative reporting of all change initiatives

  • Ensure procedures are fit for purpose (to internal and regulatory standards), documented & used, controls are suitable and effective, sample checking is undertaken and remedial action is taken. Champion the risk culture in the team. Manage risk and audit or other action plans

  • Oversee and monitor the collation of all functional MI, analyse trends and proactively drive remedial or improvement actions. Track, monitor and follow the progress of action items that emanate from internal committees to ensure that key deliverables are achieved within the set time frames

Person Specification

Knowledge & Experience

  • Project management skills

  • Process Improvement skills

  • People facilitation skills

  • Ability to apply general /commercial awareness to projects

  • IT skills in Microsoft server/workstation products,office etc..

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project would be advantageous

  • Presentation & facilitation skills

  • Previous experience delivering an IT project essential

  • Attention to detail, quality, high standards and contols

  • Sense of urgency when required

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with a positive demeanour

  • Capable of working under pressure using own initiative and with mnimal supervision

 

Communication Skills

  • Good verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Good presentation skills.
  • A practical understanding of Excel spreadsheets, access databases and web-based applications.
  • Ability to liase with IT technical resources but relay this into Change & business teams in an understandable non-technical

 

Qualifications

  • Appropriate project management qualifications desirable, i.e. Prince2, Itil, Scrum, Agile
