Job Description

Job Purpose

The Financial Control Team ensures the integrity of the Bank’s financial records forming a robust platform for all internal and external financial reporting across the organisation.  This role sits at the heart of the function ensuring day to day robust controls and management of general ledger are maintained.  The key deliverables will be preparation of group financial statements,  and a first point of contact and project manager with the external auditors.


Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of Group Statutory accounts including notes, supporting schedules and analysis for review

  • Ensure AL accounting policies are compliant with current accounting standards and provide analysis and relevant disclosure of future developments

  • Propose and implement new accounting policies against accounting standards for new business initiatives

  • Be recognised as a financial accounting technical expert, with respobsibility for training and education of key accounting issues within finance function and wider business up to Exco level

  • Preparation and day-to-day owner of AL accounting manual

  • Develop monthly management information in line with statutory reporting requirements

  • Ensure robust trial balance control adhered to across the group

  • Ongoing review of adherence to AL accounting policies across group

  • Key interface to the external auditors, agreeing policies in advance, leading the audit preparation across the finance team and proactive management of the audit  

  • Build understanding of the various businesses processes and products and leverage this to support the financial control of the Bank

Person Specification


  • Technical IFRS accounting knowledge  

  • Expert knowledge of IFRS 9 and FX accounting would be a distinct advantage

  • Preparation of group accounts

  • Audit background

  • Strong IT skills (Excel)


    Professional accounting qualification with statutory experience (ACA) or equivalent
